#1 PostAuthor: mark-19 » Sun Apr 06, 2008 7:56 pm

Managed to get the z1b out for a run last weekend,i bought the bike with a 140mph speedo fitted, 5000 rpm and the clock say's i'm doing 65mph.Does anyone know if this is about right, i'm hoping i can restore the clock using a 160mph overlay. Was going to ask the good lady to clock me but snow stopped play.

Cheers Mark

Mark, to be accurate, depends on gearing & tyre profile
Tacho will be as inaccurate as the old speedo anyhow
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

With standard gearing 5000 revs equates to 80mph, 3000rpm is about 50mph on a Z1000A1 & A2, from my personal experience.

I am pretty sure that the 140mph speedos were use on Z650s. I bought one on e-bay before realising it was no good to me. Any wanna buy one .....?

UPDATE

Just had a call from Steve at Z1 Ent Inc, they were waiting for one of my parts to come in and I am now having it sent express mail.

Also talked to him about my pilot screws and the possibility of getting a PMC exhaust through them. He's going to e-mail me a price. The only price I have seen to date was a knat's pube under ?800 squids, plus carriage, which seemed a tad cheeky considering they're only ?400 from Japan. I suspect that it'll still be beyond my means but it might be useful info to some of you guys looking for a tasty exhaust

Blimey,i know it's been while since i rode a zed but i don't think it was doing 80mph.Seems like Padders could be spot on and both speedo and tacho croaked. Is it possible to calibrate these instruments?

Chris Rivett can recalibrate both speedo and tacho. He did mine over winter, full refurb inc new damper fluid, so no more wobbly needles.
