fork side reflector information.

#1 PostAuthor: Pasc » Mon Mar 17, 2008 10:21 pm

Can anyone give me a concise history of what models and years z1 z1a z1b A4 were fitted with the front fork side reflectors and what models came without. Or was it a USA or UK market application ?
Cheers gents.

Pasc,
1972-1973... Z1 with front fork relectors.
1973-1974... Z1A... as above.
1974-1975....Z1B... as above.
1974-1975....Z900-A4 no relectors on front forks.

The first three, Z1. Z1A & Z1B are know as the Z1 series.. all had refectors or provision for them. It is understood that some countries (eg UK) did not allow the orange reflectors on the front forks, so, an alloy plate replaced the reflector. I think these alloy plates are the same size and shape as the reflectors and have "Stanley" engraved on them.

Cheers Garn, so that means a z1b without reflectors would have a later a4 front end fitted ?

Correct pasc,
all european models (as far as i know) z1, z1a, z1b had alloy reflectors, usa models had yellow plastic reflectors. The z900 A4,z1000 and z650 had no provision for reflectors, A lot of people have used later forks in earlyer bikes etc.

Cheers for the info guys.
I've been offered a z1b but it has no reflectors on the forks so I s'pose that makes the forks incorrect for the bike. Do you know if the correct forks are easy / affordable to come by ?
Cheers,
Pasc.

any z1 forks will fit, they modified the internals on later z1's but they all look the same. it depends what exactly your after. They seem to come up on ebay quite often and there must be someone one here that can sort you out. i bet someone on here would swop you some though.
