D.I.D wheel polishing ??

Hi Guys. I picked a nice D.I.D. Japan 3.5 x18 real wheel . Stainless spokes rim in perfect condition. Never any holes drilled for a race slick .
There appears to be a silver anodized coating that is very dull. Looks like a dirt bike wheel. Is there a easy way to remove the coating without bead blasting? i would like to get it to raw aluminum and hand polish.

GregZ, sounds a good find. I take it, that it has a Z1 series/ Z900 hub Drum Brake. I thought DID rims (like Takasago) were steel, chromed. I note that "Z1 Enterprizes" now sell DID rims. I wonder if their rear rims are the same as yours.

Thats interesting, it appears to be in a standard swing arm?
What size tyre is on it and does it clear the chain or have you had to offset the sprockets?

18x 3.5 wheel with a 130 tire fits with no problems. A good friend of mine has a 18x 4 1/4 with a 140 tire stuffed in a stock swing arm. He used a longer chain to clear the swing arm. Here isa photo of his awsome Z.

Hey pigford. My friends pipe is a machine bent Yoshimura. He had it ceramic coated. never needs paint will not dis-color ,rust ,chip etc. His zed is top notch![/url]

GregZ, It certainly looks like an alloy rim to me, not the steel DID I thought. I would leave it, it looks great.
