Tyres/Wheels/Chain width issues - Confused

The Dresda isn't really any wider than than the standard arm remembering the one I sold to Paul, so you probably can't go further than you could on a stock set-up. But you should still be able to lace a rim in there to take a 150 I think that what Ferry has in the back of Kath's otherwise stock z1000.

What size rim and what profile is the tyre on Kath's bike?
My 1000 A2 has an 18" 3.50 Akront on the rear with a 130/80 on it. Plenty of chain clearance, handles beautifully, but like the butch look of the 150. The 3.50 rim is suited to a 150 but couldn't find a tyre in 18" to fit, so wondered what Kath runs on hers - looks lovely btw ;-)

Bridgestone do a 150/70 in the Battlax range.I think Continental still do a 150/70 and Metzeler,Pirelli and Avon also used to.Probably best to check the manufacturers websites and maybe email them for further details as 18" tyres aren't big sellers any more so many tyre places only get them to order but most are still available.
I've just had a butchers at the M&P website and they list a 150/70 X 18" CONTINENTAL TKV12? for ?70.99.

A 3" rim will take a 130,140 and 150 no problem. When the GPz900R came out in 1984,a lot of racers fitted 150 section rear tyres and some preferred the bike on a 130 but lots were happy with the 150.
I've run a 140/70 on a 3" GPz turbo rim and the bike is fine.Just fitted a 150/70 to another GPz wheel and it looks good but i wouldn't go any larger on a 3" rim.
