Seized Carb Slides

#1 PostAuthor: Padders » Sun Feb 17, 2008 2:33 pm

This is a new one on me no doubt caused by crap petrol. Stripped my spare set of carbs today to refurb them and on two of them the slides have seized solid. Any ideas on how best to sort. Tried spraying WD40 in them and leaving overnight nada still solid.

Any ideas gratefully received.

ps Pigford here's your chance to impress :D

Parrafin works well with most alloy combinations.
A bit of heat maybe.
Plus Gas has to be worth a go.

Or, last ditch effort................

Drill the slides out, if that 5lb hammer don't work :!:
Personally, i'd just leave 'em off, and save weight & hassle. :|
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Aero Kroil found in the US. Can get it off ebay and nothing works better. Other suggestion of using heat also works but be gentle as zinc alloys don't like to much heat. If that don't work send em to me for a paper weight :P KP

Strip them to the least possible size Ian and then boil them in oil (get misses to cook them with the chips tonight) :D
