Fuel Filter

Morning chaps,

Has anyone found a compact 5/16"/8mm fuel filter similar in size to the one in the photo below? The one in the pic is 1/4", and although it flows around 100ml in 10 seconds, I think I'd rather have one with larger fittings to suit my Pingel fuel tap. A GSXR1000 fuel pump flows around 135ml in 10 secs, so you'd think this should be fine for VM29 carbs on an old J but better to be safe than have a holed piston!

I've tried two different other filters - one was a 5/16 from my local Wilco that would just stop flowing for a laugh (I took it back, was given a replacement which did exactly the same!), and I've also tried a 3/8 H**** one that would airlock as I couldn't fit it in a vertical position without having an upwards loop in the fuel pipe.

So I took the old bus out for a right good thrashing this morning with the 1/4" filter fitted as above and it didn't miss a beat. In fact, it ran the best it ever has and did a great job of helping to clear my hangover!

Just bought 4 of these and they look identical to yours.
Shown as translucent but are actually transparent just as yours.
£2.00 each cant go wrong.

Could you please do me a favour when you have a moment and measure the length of just the filter body from the base of the spigots (i.e. the visible part of the filter in my pic)? I should then be able to determine whether it will fit in the space without running the risk of the fuel pipe running uphill.

Body part without spigots is 16mm x 32mm
Has fine mesh gauze screen inside not fluted paper element.
Doesnt appear to air lock like all other in-line filters i have seen if mounted vertically and should replace the one you have there without altering the pipework in any way.

New fuel filter fitted as per Al's and it filled straight away, even on the sidestand. I haven't yet taken the bike out for a damn good thrashing, but I think problem solved. Cheers old chap!
