4x4 exhaust question
Am I right in thinking that the only spacer/bush when fitting the 4into4 system is what goes into the exhaust hangers on the frame, there is nothing that goes into the exhaust or either side of the bolt/nut. Can't get the gap right from the inside of the pipe to the swing arm, on the left hand side. The brackets have been checked and all ok but the left set of pipes are just to close to the wheel nut. Any ideas
I'm not 100% convinced it's that, as I have measured and had measured the brackets and both are the same in relation to the frame/swing arm just wanted to make sure there is not a spacer or something missing. The only bush is the 4, 2 on each side that go into the exhaust hanger hole, nothing goes into the pipes or between them it's just metal to metal between the hole that the bolt goes through on the pipes.

So after some more head scratching I have pulled the pipes off the bike and set them up on the floor to have a look and I am 100% sure that the problem lies with the pipes and not the bike. If you look at the hangers they are different heights so the lower one (with the problem) sits closer to the bike also when I set up the pipes you can run your hand between the two on one set and the other is tight as a drum. If you look the left sets edge is straight but the right is dog legged
On closer inspection it looks like 3-4 pipes are 76 pipes and 1 is a 74 pipe, now I know these are all meant to fit but it may go some way to answer the question of whats wrong.
Only way forward now is to dig out the new pipes and fit them before I pull the engine out.

Bottom right is well bent

Yeah but the problem is with the bottom left, right side fits like a glove with the correct gap. A point to note none of these are original to the bike, bloke I bought it off had a 4-1 and bought these of another club member some time ago.
Zedhead, to save me digging out my shiny new set of 4 x 4 would you mind digging one of your many hundreds of sets you have lying around and checking what they should look like.

I would recommend wrapping your new pipes in clingfilm to prevent any scratches then do a dry test fit.
It is the only way you will tell for sure and see whether it is going to foul anywhere and if the stands are going to hit the right parking points on the cans.
It's what I had to do on my Z1 rebuild when it came with a 4 into one.
We had to move the left hanger slightly and heat up the main stand so that the protruding end sat right on the exhaust rubber.

Also be wary of bending the exhaust hangers without some heat on the joint if you don't want to crack the weld open.

Cling film and perhaps some strategically placed newspaper taped over the high spots should do it - as long as you take it slowly.
If you put anything too bulky you will defeat the exercise - of checking clearances.
An extra pair of hands is always good when offering up the four pipes for fitting.
If you can't get those find something the right height and pad it up to rest the silencer end on whilst you are fiddling with the header.
