Caliper blasting/cleaning

#1 PostAuthor: Redbeard » Sat Feb 06, 2016 4:55 pm

Hi, can anyone recommend someone preferably local(ish) to Aylesbury who can blast the paint from brake calipers? If not I could send them but just want a bike friendly place who will do a decent job. Cheers.

Simon at Flying Tiger will do a fantastic job if you want them coating too, if you just want them blasting then Doug Cox at reading would be a good bet.

Simon did these for me.....

Thanks guys, I will inquire at both. There is a local soda blasting place but would rather stick with someone who won't treat them like an iron gate or an old land rover. :up

Redbeard,
If you send them to Doug Cox make sure you either cover up the inner parts of the caliper or specifically tell them to just blow the paint off.
I sent them 2 x Z1 calipers a few years ago and they blasted the interiors too, wrecked them.

Steve

Hi Steve, thank you for the warning, much appreciated. Exactly why I thought I would ask you chaps on here first. If I just get them basted down to metal would they be ok left unpainted? The bright green is chipped and the rear is bare metal, just polished up.

Doug Cox does offer a good painting service too but I think he only does black but it's very durable.

Steve
