Hi
the A4 manual states 25 ft-lbs (3.5 kg-m) for main head bolts. is this correct?
for the bolts at either end they state 104 in-lbs (1.2 kg-m) is this correct?
For the end bolts this converts to 11.76 N-M which seems very high

You are right as regards the main head bolts Mark, the small bolts,i just nip em up with my inbuilt torque feel it wrench, the samller bolts tend to strip quite easily in these old ally heads..

Thanks, I was concerned about snapping those bolts
Odd's on the thread will strip way before the bolt gets overloaded

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

All main Head nuts are first lightly oiled & then tightened in 2 stages & follow tightening sequence to first pass to .... 18lbs /FT .... then 2nd pass taken again in sequence to 25lbs / Ft
( The 2 x 6mm end Bolts... which should be tightened to 8lbs/Ft...but personally I'd do these last by careful feel alone ...as there very strippable )

Again as per the other answers, these strip dead easy if torqued up,i just nip em up with a spanner and judging by hand!
