Moto Martin Frame

#1 PostAuthor: 58degreesnorth » Sun Jan 03, 2016 6:07 pm

Hi
I have a Moto Martin frame and I have Z1 engine but the front engine mount is 260mm from bolt entrance to bolt entrance and the mountings on the frame are 240mm apart so the engine won't fit without modifying the frame, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the Z900 engine front mountings are 260mm or 240mm becasue I was wondering it the frmae was intended for a different engine.
Cheers
Tim

All Z1, Z1A, Z1B, Z900 and Z1000's up to 1980 have same engine mounts.

Changed with Z1000J 1981 onwards.

I have a GPz Unitrak motor in my Moto Martin. GPz is same crank cases as a J motor. My frame was made for an earlier Z motor and front mounts line up nicely so it can't be much different in dimension. The bike is not here so I can't measure for you though.

I did check the GSX motor in my Harris and the front engine mount is 200mm approximately. Could it be a frame for a Suzuki or H**** motor?

If you are on Facebook you can message George Martin directly with your frame number and he might be able to tell you what motor it was made for. He doesn't speak English though.

1000J, 1000R, Unitrak and 1100R are 240mm across the top front engine mount.
That is without the rubber spacers each side which are probably about ten mm per side.
Cant measure them as i no longer have them mine is solid mounted.

IF THE FRAME IS INTENDED FOR A kAWASAKI ENGINE THEN THE FRAME NUMBER ON THE HEADSTOCK SHOULD READ "KC####"
