but can it not be something else that is forcing the leads/coils to beak down? if the old leads and new leads are both doing the same.

Hmmmmm, lot's of answers just need to pick the correct one. May try a different 2/3 coil. This problem seems to be intermittent :roll: Can't think of any other thing to do. Thanks Guy's for all your input.
