Exhaust Repairer

#1 PostAuthor: corky » Wed Aug 19, 2015 9:12 pm

Hi guys new on here looking for a recommendation for someone to repair my Z1 exhaust. Just bought a restored Z1 with new pipes on it but also have the originals. R/h bottom has a split along the seam at the bottom and a bit of scraping. Looking for a good sheet metal / welder guy to work some magic so I can get them rechromed and fitted back on the bike. Unfortunately where the split is looks pretty thin and rusty so may not be repairable but who knows! Am located in sunny sussex so any info appreciated.

i wouldn't advise having a forty year old exhaust repaired as they rotted like hell when they where new. trying to apply any weld to them they will just disintegrate & the cleaning process before they are chromed will rot them from the inside very quickly

Likely they will dissolve to nothing in the chromer's tanks if you can find someone who will take them. Few will because of the contamination risk.
