other side panel fitment

#1 PostAuthor: stevie g » Sun Aug 16, 2015 9:38 am

Hi Guys, Can anyone tell me if any other model side panel fits my CSR 1000 other than the original ? ie Z1000 LTD Z1000 J etc. Took bike out for a run yesterday, lost the left and by the time I noticed and retrieved it several cars had run over it, so it's broken into several pieces. Thanks for any help, $

Hi Stevie, pretty certain the Z1000 LTD K1/2 models are the same as the CSR. Seat rails are lower than the J so I don't imagine they will fit.

Cheers for that Redbeard, Just looking at the J model panel and it doesn't have the hole in it for lock. So the K1/K2 is the LTD without the tailpiece I take it ? In my eyes the ugly LTD. I've fitted a tailpiece on mine and a different seat so it don't really look like a CSR any more. Thank god. :D

That's the one mate, the ugly one. I sold one in bits to a chap on here with a spare side panel but I forget which side, he may have one. Skid11 is his user name, might be worth giving him a shout?

OK will do bud, Glad someone agrees with me on the ugly front. It's like the designer went off on the sick near completion and they took in some social worker or summat to finish it off. Cheers $ :D

I dont have a spare at the moment but all the Ltd's share the same side panels and they also fit z1000 A1 and A2..b2 to b4 probably the later ones as well but cant say for sure ?Not based on model numbers but just swapping them about in my garage.. :)

Didn't think the A1 A2 had a hole in the panel for the lock. Sold a set not long ago but cannot remember now.

The A2 doesn't have a hole for the seat lock on the left hand side panel. The side panels on my A2 fit my Kz900ltd and Kz1000Ltd B2..If the CSR has a hole for the seat lock then i think the side panels from the Ltds wont fit..The Ltd ones are cut back by the seat lock rather than having a hole if that makes sense?

I am sure the ltd k model has the hole for the seat lock barrel, all the ones on Google images have, as well as the csr.

Thanks guys. Never understood why Kawasaki changed the rear end of these bikes. You know like, " Ive got an idea, lets make an otherwise pretty bike and stick a pig ugly rear end on it, That'll sell" NOT. Hope he got his cards whoever it was. :wnkr
