EBC do a floater if you want to throw more money at it, expensive but undoubtedly the way to go....
Very few modern caliipers float. I used Billet six pots on the standard disks for a long time and it stopped pretty well, but it was hard on the disks and as Steve Debben said not ideal.

Definetly a floater guys .....so based on the Steve Debben advice they will be OK on my fixed discs.
As you can see they are fairly small and the combined piston area is only a touch bigger than standard zed pistons so I am just not sure it is worth making brackets for them.
I was going to use Thunderace 4 pots - but the inside piston housing would have ripped out all my new stainless steel spokes!

Those are floaters okay...
That's the problem with the standard forks, being quite narrow there's no space for big calipers with pistons on both sides to clear the wheel unless they're Billet or Pretech. Those have two pistons on one side and a fixed pad on the other side, same set up as some of the H**** calipers that are some of the few that will fit in. I didn't know Yamaha had any like that. Live and learn.... Black bird ones are the same set-up with three pistons.
Ideal workable set up with the standard forks is six pot Billets or Pretechs (narrow calipers) with floating discs. ????? but

Z1A stripes...WELL TRICKY
I forgot how difficult it is to do the stripes on just one side let alone trying to match them up on the other side as well.
I have noticed that a lot of Z1A stripes must be laid out with the panels off the bikes because the bold tank stripe often lines up with the bottom of the tank and looks like it points downhill when the tank is back on the bike.
As such I put my panels loosely on the bike but still found it very hard to get the angles looking right.
I have kicked my tailpiece up a little too because I like them looking pert (don't tell the missus!) as such I have had too crank the stripe around a bit on that too. I like the look of the indicators set forwards onto the old shock pin too because that exagerates the lovely tail and hides the pin without hacking it off......Hadn't thought that the seat won't open though....bugger!
The rough mock up is like this
Here is the stripage going on before for lthe aquer which will bring it to life.
Black/gold pearl base, gold main stripes, pearl white stripe.....SWEET!
