Wheel rebuilding

#1 PostAuthor: david edgcombe » Sun Jan 13, 2008 12:50 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know a professional wheel builder who is prepared to rebuild wheels to the orginal spec ? that is re-chome/restore original TAKASAGO rims, new Kawasaki spokes etc. Probably v expensive but want to keep the Zed as original as possible.

Thanks

Central wheels in birmingham do aall wheel rebuilds and could probably do it for you.

For the original bits try z-power they may even do the rebuilds, and would definitley know someone who could do them.

FORKNWHEELS IN LEICESTER also provide a rebuild service.

Cheers
Phil

I've used Central Wheel in the past, very good, but expensive. They do the wheels for the National Motorcycle Museum.
Four pipes rule, anything else is second best.

Yup - Central have done 3 bikes for me now - all spot on. Turnaround has always been swift too. You'd need to organise your own re-chroming on rims. Best company I know is Marque Restore near coventry.
you need to have the rims linished VERY carefully or the shallow stampings can easily get ground away. Marque Restore are restoration specialists so they'll understand.

As said previously, however, if you live near to me a Bedlow then there is a guy who re-laces wheels in Uxbridge (W.London). Let me know if your interested.
