Pre 1960 British bike 500cc.

#1 PostAuthor: z1bnackerkwacker » Tue May 12, 2015 9:03 pm

Anyone got a pre-1960 British bike, 500/650 project, dead or runner, probably 52 to 59, m.o.t exempt, triumph, maybe b.s.a, non plunger frame, could be interested in a deal with my z1b..
If nothing turns up I may list in classifieds soon.
Looking at the crap I've seen on EBay for £3500 £4000..I'd estimate it should be worth £5k if I list it......prefer a deal though..

You might try here, they usually have a good selection of projects. Triumphs are more expensive than BSA but the BSA A10 650 is a great bike, I have one and wouldn't be without it.

If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it.

Most insurers don't like the idea of "no MOT" on a bike  even if it is not necessary.

An old bike usually has slacker requirements for the MOT, so for peace of mind it's best to get them MOT'd, even if pre- 1960, also a bit of arse covering
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

A mate has a couple of pre-60's BSA's (and a Matchless), all of which he gets MOT'd. More a case of pleasing his insurers and (as said) covering his ass on the legal front in case he is involved in a "mishap", otherwise the onus will be on him to prove the bike was okay :!:

Yes a ridiculous decision not to have an MOT, 99% of classic users will have their kit spot on. I am just waiting for some fool to drag something out of a barn, pump the tyres up give it a wash and off they go with a bit of insurance. Just needs a tragedy or 2 to turn it round really, horses and bolting come to mind............... Won't be long.
