A4 chain and sprockets

#1 PostAuthor: sprint » Fri May 01, 2015 7:00 pm

Just got replacement chain and sprockets for my 76 A4. They are JT sprockets so good quality.

Front has an offset of about 1.5 mm to accommodate the wider 630 o-ring chain however, the rear has no offset. Does that mean that you still have to fit the spacer, which is no longer available or by the time they got to the A4 was the sprocket carrier machined to provide the necessary offset to maintain the correct chain alignment?

If not is 1.5 mm enough to worry about since that is probably the amount of side play on the chain?

Origina front sprocket has a boss to stop wider o ring chain from catching the engine casing. The 1.5mm spacer is needed with the flat JT sprocket for the same reason.

Does that mean then that there is a rear sprocket (JT or otherwise) that has an integral 1.5mm boss or can you supply the 1.5mm spacer?
