Length of speedo cable and shock refurb

Hi,Looking for n.o.s. speedo for my a4 resto if possible.Looking in parts catalogue there are two listed one being 5cm longer that the other.Any ideas which I need please ?

Secondly I have the original rear shocks that are in need of a clean up , has anyone had them done in the past

i can only see one listed & the part no supersedes to this no 54001-040 £26 cradley have it in stock

How do you identify original shocks?

I have a reasonable set with 'Japan' stamped into the top mount...are they original?

Good point Gary.Just checked mine and havent even got that stamped on ! if Ive got reps ( was told they were original) would just get a new rep set I think

i don't think the shocks have made in Japan on them?

i do not think they have anything stamped on the top eye but may have a date code on the bottom eye?

Original shocks have a small hole for a dowel pin below the top mounting eye (above the chrome shroud) Pattern ones don't have this.....

Can just be seen on this pic of my old A4....

There is a thread (somewhere) in the projects section (I think) showing a strip and re-build of a set of original shocks. Your problem comes when you start wanting to re-chrome the bits which can get quite expensive compared to £50 for a set of pattern ones from Z-Power in nice shiny blingy chrome.
