Hi,
I was searching for an answer and your recent post may answer my queries.
My 1979 ST1000 has a four brush starter fitted. Maybe this was the year they changed over to the four brush motor!
I was given some spares with the bike including SMBK146, which, apparently, is the 2 brush repair kit. This is no good for my starter. Which part no. or model should I be looking for?
No joy in my searches as yet.
Cheers

I just replaced my brush base plate with this.

Perfect fit and very reasonably priced considering you get everything in the picture not just some brushes.
Theres' a wee thumbnail below the main picture which gives dimensions of the brushes too for you to check!
Excellent quality too by the looks of it.

Nice one Zorded.
That looks like the one indeed. And as you say, a good price too for the whole kit, and looks like no soldering or messing about either. Will get this ordered. I note they list SMBK146 too which has it for the year range of the ST. Must be an anomaly with this four brush motor fitted.
I remember using Electrex many moons r the usual Suzuki GS Regulator/Rectifier replacements. Good people. Never thought to go there. Certainly better than £27 for a pair of brushes?

Post script.
Electrex bits fitted perfect on my four brush ST starter and seem to work a treat. Real test soon when the carbs/tank go back on.
