Cylinder Base Spigots - 1000cc

#1 PostAuthor: nicomkii » Wed Dec 10, 2014 6:43 am

First of no doubt screams for help. Bottom end is assembled and starting to line up to fit the pistons and slip the cylinder on.

The Clymer manual specifically states For the 1000cc - Install a new O ring around each of the 4 Cylinder base spigots.

Now I cant find these so called O rings in the parts list nor can I find any mention of the O rings in the factory manual.

Are these required / suggested and what are these spigots they speak of ?

Any help greatly appreciated as will any further questions that I will no doubt be throwing up after trying the search function.

Cheers
Nico

These are the 4 large O-rings around the bottom of the liners of the cylinder block.
They fit between the liner & the cylinder block.
They should come with the gasket set.

I have heard of some guys not fitting them, but I always have.

Not sure of the part number though, but someone will fire in with the info

Don't bother with the "O" rings.... not really necessary if the barrels are okay..... they're used to stop oil drawing between the liners and barrels.
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

As soon as you mentioned it bingo the dim lights lit up and now I know exactly what you are alluding too. I didn't get any with the gasket set I picked up so another conundrum.
There weren't any fitted on strip down so I am guessing the barrels are fine, in saying that though I am not in a huge rush to get her back together so if anyone has a part number then I will get a set just to be on the safe side.
Were they an after thought as there is no mention that I could find in the original parts manual.

92055-054 'O' Ring 73mm x 4

The parts manual shows the same part number for the 1976 Z900A4 and 1977 Z1000 A1/B1LTD.
