Engine mounting bolts

#1 PostAuthor: Richard Q » Mon Dec 08, 2014 10:06 am

My Z900 has threaded bar which has tarnished rather a lot, taking place of the three bolts which hold the engine in. 165mm, 250mm and 310mm.

They are all a little too short and are on the end of their threads, so not good. As I would like to fit some engine bars, the front one is just not long enough, 304mm from the seized on dome nut to the end.

So, I was looking for some stainless bolts, 165, 250 and perhaps a little longer than 310mm, say 320.

Anyone got any? can I use stainless? are they supposed to be bolts or 10mm studding?

So many questions

Bit late now

They're for a Z1000J - would they have fitted the KZ900?

I have no idea :!: I just provided information that I thought may or may not be useful in your search, if you look into the Ebay shop they have lots of SS kit that may or may not be of use :|

Oh ok :)

I have managed to get some SS ones with the longer one being a little over length to fit some engine bars.

Thanks anyway

Cheers

Richard, where did you get your s/s long bolts from? I've got some crash bars to fit and need extended bolts to suit.

Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve

I got them here

http://www.accugroup.co.uk/

They're not here yet so I don't know what they're like. It's only the front one that I got a little longer @ 320mm

I have a couple of spares if you need one :)

Do you still have some st/st engine bolts surplus to requirement? If so what lengths do you have?

Hi Andy

Yes I still have some left

The front one is 320mm, 10mm oversize which is great if you're fitting engine bars to it.

There's a 250mm, and a 170mm as well. The 170 should be 165mm but I couldn't get one of those, so you will have to chop the last 5mm off, or I can do that for you if you like.

So you'll get 3 Stainless bolts 320mm, 250mm and a 170mm, and three stainless dome nuts to suit. I can do it for £25.00 plus £5.00 carriage to mainland UK.

How's that sound?

Richard

PS I've answered you PM as well :)
