A mate asked me to rebuild an old set of H2B forks and I think there's something wrong and maybe been like it for years.
Ive attached two images, the first shows the forks as I stripped them and the unusual thing is that the short spring was sitting directly beneath the long spring and not as I think it should have been on the damper rod & there is no damper unit on the end of the rod just the cone bit. The valve, collar & spring are correctly positioned and retained in the end of the fork tube as per normal. The second image shows a typical damper rod, not from this model, however, you can clearly see the damper unit on the end after the short spring.
I assembled one of the forks as it came apart and under compression you def can't hear any of the swishing noise you normally hear.
Any ideas?
