Had a bit of time in the garage this afternoon...... so I took the exhaust off and drained the oil, and put in a new filter.

The clutch was seized so whilst the engine was empty of oil I whipped the clutch cover off..... and out with the plates

Image

Good new is they're more or less NEW, but I think they may've been fitted without a pre-soak in oil, which meant the oil soaked into the edges of the friction plate contact areas and cause a bit of suction :!: Didn't take too much effort to seperate them and put them back in = one working clutch :P

I routed about in one of me Zed/Junk boxes and found a finned starter cover, 2 x sets of Tarozzi r/sets (1 x LC and 1 x GSX1100) which hopefully I can sort to fit me Zed.

The exhaust, by the way, is a tidy stainless steel system which should polish up okay - but I'll still be fitting the V&H. I also found the 2:4 style seat and some Z650 yokes - for quicker steering - and an old Zed specific oil cooler & take-offs
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
