Z900a4 exhaust problem

#1 PostAuthor: markhemstock » Mon Oct 06, 2014 10:28 pm

Hello I have a new original exhaust for my z9 a4 which I have stored in the loft for over 14 years. I have just fetched it out to use and the down pipe has rotted where it was laid on polythene the silencer is still as new due to being in the original packing. My old exhaust bottom left the silencer has gone but the down pipe is obviously ok. Has any one ever managed to separate the silencer from the down pipe just thinking I could use the old down pipe with the new silencer if I get it tack welded in position then welded fully and then paint alloy paint over the weld as was done when new. Been a club member for 15 years but first time using website so hope I have done it correctly cheers mark

I don't see any problem with what you want to do.

It just comes down to the quality of the workmanship.

If done well, it should be almost undetectable..

Shouldn't be too hard, just don't burn the chrome any more than ya have to. A new original pipe should have the cover band over this area anyway?
