Cam cover gasket
Gents some advice please, I am going to check my valve clearances shortly and have a weep of oil from the cover gasket. Do I need a new gasket or could I use some liquid gasket( Hermatite?) to replace current gasket. What is your advice and experiences. - Jacobmarley (KZ1000 1979)
At the end of the day it is up to you, but I personaly would fit a new gasket, especially as the old one is already leaking,
if it was a fairly new gasket and has only been on there a short time I might re-use it as they do sometimes need re-torqueing after bedding in.
..but go on treat it its Christmas

I wouldn't just use a sealant, as the gaskets are quite thick, for a reason
If they were just paper gaskets, maybe, but cam gaskets being a couple of 'mm' thick, this must be to allow for a bit of movement and/or irregularity between surfaces. Don't want those cams rubbing the cover
I'd reuse the gasket if it seems quite intact and not hard or over-compressed, with a smear of sealant to be sure

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
