Cam Chain Tensioner Cracked

#1 PostAuthor: wheelysteve » Wed Sep 17, 2014 8:06 pm

Decided to check out the operation of my cam chain tensioner this afternoon. Removed it and it looks like the metal block in the holder is cracked. Is this a common problem? It's from my Z1B.

Should I be panicking ? Can this bit be sourced separate from the whole tensioner?

Comments please……

Should be a plastic block on the end?

Just checked, it's definitely steel, my magnet stuck to it…...

That's a standard OEM tensioner unit with correct metal plate on the end. I've had a look but don't have a spare. I'm sure they are still available but pricey.
Perhaps place an 'Wanted' add.

+1

I think the A.P.E. ones are cheaper at the moment.

I want to keep the bike to original spec. I've bought a s/hand one from flea bay….hopefully it's in better nick than mine. Think I'll put a new spring in for peace of mind.
