I think i've got some (square hole) fork tops which are not rusty off a set of Z1R forks.

No chris. If I remember right just a bit of brute force and ignorance ( I have ample of both ).
It can be a little fiddly trying to push the spring down, with the plug (trying to get the first thread). You need to have the forks secured/still, so you have both hands available.
