Z1300 again.

I’ve finally got the Z1300 running, had a buzz round the town on it and it seems to be going reasonably well. There are one or two teething problems, but I’m sure I’ll get them sorted out. The first problem is, it seems to run a bit hot, and the electric fan cuts in if I am sitting stationary few a few minutes, is this normal?
The other problem is starting it, and I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible. The biggest problem with the bike has been the wiring. A previous owner of it has had all the wiring skills of an average six year old. There were bits of household wire spliced in all over the place, connecting god knows what, then there are other bits disconnected from various parts. However I have got most, but not all of it sorted out.
The bike is an American import, and it seems to have a switch on the clutch lever, and a switch on the brake lever. The switch on the clutch lever is missing; I have no idea what it was for. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. The switch on the front brake lever I assume is for the stoplight, but the stoplight isn’t working. Now the strange thing is, the bike will only start if I pull on the brake lever, when it fires I can let it go and it then it runs ok. It’s just like when you start up one of those little scooters.
Is this normal, or as I suspect, I still have some crossed wires. I’m thinking this might be something to do with the missing clutch lever switch, but I’m not too sure.
Again, any helpful suggestions appreciated. I’m sorry to be such a pain in the ass on the forum with this bike; I’m possibly a bit out of my depth with it.
Still, that’s another old Z back on the road, so it’s not all bad.

I would say that the fan kicking in when stationary is normal.

The missing switch on the clutch lever, I would say would be a safety feature, - You would need to pull in the clutch to start.

Which means that you may have crossed the wires for this switch over to the brake switch.

I am no sparky but you should just be able to "hot wire" the wires together like a bypass.

I am sure some of the guys on here with more electrical knowledge will fire in.

I think the fan is set to kick in early
My side stand switch has been removed an unplugged at the clutch

quite normal for the fan to come on when the bike is stationary. the clutch switch should be fitted & it prevents the engine from starting when it is in gear that's why you have to pull the lever for it to start.

Hi. Have you bled cooling system as per manual? Took myself 2 attempts to get air out of system. Plus have you mixed anti freeze to a 50/50 ratio with a branded product.
