Paul,
I have been trying to set up the static timing as per the instructions using a analogue voltmeter but just cannot see the advance marks to line up with I can only assume that the mark is at the start of the bob weight arm.
Regards
Steve.

Steve i never bother with the static set up.you need four pairs of hands, just get the bike running, get your strobe to stay on,fix it so it points at the timing marks, and tap the plate round with a screwdriver and small hammer, with the three screws loosish, till the F mark lines up,tighten up the three screws and just make sure it advances to where the bob weights start, job done...Always set mine up like that and no probs..Cheers Paul J

Paul,
Set up as per your instructions and spot on.
I cannot believe the F**k about with the static timing as per the instructions and when you put the strobe on it its a mile out anyway.
Regarding the advance mark on the early(72/73) advancer there is no mark. The owners manual describes it as "at 2,900-3100rpm,the timing advancer changes enough so the timing mark and the pin on the timing advancer should be aligned at this speed or higher"
Regards
Steve

Always set statically at fully advanced - that way you're sure it'll be running optimum when giving it the beans
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
