z1000mk2 pistons

#1 PostAuthor: lescr » Sun Aug 17, 2014 7:31 pm

I am replacing some old and brittle valve guide seals on a late mk2 engine and have been looking at the pistons and was wondering should they have flat or domed tops?

thats what I thought. The ones in this engine are flat tops, explains the low compression

further investigation of pistons shows them to be 73mm diameter which works out at 1105cc. Looks like I have purchased an engine that was running a turbo and big bore kit. Guy I got it off didnt mention that when I was loading it in back of car. Pity it didnt come with turbo would have looked nice bolted to my old Z1R
