Gasket glue for rocker box covers ?

#1 PostAuthor: ADRIAN H » Wed Aug 06, 2014 9:49 am

Can someone please confirm the best gasket glue for Rocker box cover and the rubber bungs for a Z1000J cylinder head ?

Thanks in advance, valued assistance greatly appreciated.

I have a slight weep across the front and through the bolt hole which secure the rubber bungs. :D :D

I use black RTV silicone sealant and have never had any problems (or leaks).

Or Blue hylomar
If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it.

literally used it recently, can highly
recommend it too. Also replaced the rubber cam end plugs for
PMC black anodised billet alloy items, very pleased with them.

I've been using Stag Wellseal and managed to reuse the same gasket a couple of times, though it is a bit like treacle. :D

Gasket sealed to cam cover only with the RTV, LM grease on the
mating surface of the engine head, should stretch the service
life of it a bit longer.

I use various sealants at work, sure, the rtv silicone sealants are good , but if im dealing with something which is allmost oil bath conditions I,ll tend to use more specialist stuff like 3 bond or a gasket sealer called darko,,, if you can find it its fantastic stuff,, I do tend to use loctite copper silicone a lot too, especialy on sumps,, good gear!

DAF sold it in the 80's.

It came in a DAF box and had a DAF part number.

It is readily available now.
