main bearing cap

#1 PostAuthor: kwaka » Mon Nov 19, 2007 10:22 am

Hi All
I'm in the process of reassembling the old girl and was wondering whether it would be better or not to put a little threadlock on the main crank bearing cap bolts? The manual says nothing about it so i assume it doesn't need it, however there are no spring washers or any other means of locking them in and wonder whether there is a possibility of them vibrating loose. Has this ever happened to someone?

Shouldn't be necessary as the circulatory forces are 90deg to the bolt orientation so no effect on them. I've never found any loose ones in the 30yrs I've been rebuilding them.

Mike.
