Z1AExhausts
I have some orig exhausts and have been trying to remove the baffles. They seem a bit stuck to be tight, may be rusted a bit. Been pulling gingerly on the central bar of the baffle, but worried it might snap. Any ideas what I coud do to get them out. Thanks
Try Red x and petrol mixed.....If the central bar does snap(probably)use a metal rawlbolt inside the baffle with a ring or bar welded to the bolt head nip it up and use to extract out,you a can also weld a length of threaded rod on the end of the rawlbolt and use a large socket as a slide hammer to tapout...does work.....Paul J

Removing baffles from originals can be difficult.
First remove the retaining 6mm bolt, then gently hit the baffle inwards about 5 or so mm.
I usually get a wire/ pot-cleaner type rotary buff, about the same diameter as the baffle outer diameter (about 55mm) and clean paint etc from this inner surface of the pipe. allow some WD400 to penetrate, then pull the 3mm rod.
I often try to set up a type of "weight on a rod" type puller to remove the baffle..... Can't think of the name of these puller devices, where you have a weight sliding on a rod, to apply a vertical force... Same as PaulJac mentioned.
He probably requires the small 3mm bar not to be there!

Garn (Sydney) Z1, Z1A, Z1B and Z900-A4
Right on all count Garn, its a slide hammer you are thinking of,down your neck of the wood did it take 400 attempts to get the Wd40 to work?( means water dispersal 40th attempt for those that dont know)
Enough of your cheek Gary, go back to sorting that rough old thou out
