My new chain has the link to connect the chain together. No instructions!! im guessing this is straight forward but how?

have a link and 4 rubber washers.

fit the chain over the sprockets,fit an o ring to each post on the link push it through each end of the chain to join the loop now fit an o ring to each post again.You now need to fit the face plate which to do properly requires the use of a chain tool.These are a tight fit and need to be pressed on evenly to match the other links.If it is a rivet link the ends of the posts now need to be mushroomed to prevent the face plate from coming off.The tool should do this although I prefer to use a large ball pein hammer and a heavy piece of steel behind the link and rivet it that way.

Wayne, the chain must be an O-ring chain and you have an O-ring link...
I think you will work it out is you think a little!

Garn, yes i sort of worked it out as far as the obvious but reading weavers explanation has confirmed my thoughts. However Weaver, how do you hold the chain, steel bar and hit the pins at the same time without damaging anything?

the chain will be joined at this point with the face plate being pressed on so turn the chain until the link is on the bottom of the chain run then carefully position something solid at the back of the link and hit the ends of the post with the hammer to rivet the ends over,be careful as you dont want to damage anything

Sorry Wayne, It's not an easy job when you have that type of rivet link. You need three hands and you have to ensure you don't overdo the rivet action which could make the link too tight.
I was thinking it was a "clip" link and even those can be hard to do, when you have to get all the o-rings sitting down.

Just fitted a new rear chain sprocket 33t and new chain 92 links and adjusted the rear wheel to the 30 to 35mm chain tension and I can get my fingering the hole left at the back of the chain tensioner and the slot for the wheel. I would have expected the wheel to be tight at the back of the slot everything being new.
Am I worrying too much?
