Rota Coil

#1 PostAuthor: Wayne1960 » Thu Mar 27, 2014 7:18 am

Just finished cleaning up the rota coil and notices one if the wires had split. It is one of the 3 that connect to the coil.
I managed to strip back the material sheathing and plastic coating to expose the wire which I twisted and solders back together.
I guess the wire can get hot and wanted to know if soldering was an acceptable fix and what can I use to insulate/ cover the repair.
Thanks in advance.
Just purchased a 1976 UK Z900 A4 for renovation. Wish me luck.
Bike now finished what a joy!

Small Tubular inline crimps and solder are good just cut the thick insulation off and replace it with self amalgamating tape when your happy you have a good joint

Before soldering the joint thread a piece of heatshrink tubing over the wire long enough to cover the joint once it's complete.Carry out soldering job, move heatshrink into position then apply heat to the tube to shrink down over the soldered joint to insulate it.

the tape seems to weather oil and heat better than heatshrink was my reasoning :D
