Better to use the manometer method, you can see what the levels actually are with setting with a measurement you cant tell the levels,i made mine up with some aquarium tube and a plastic screw in for the bottom of the bowl where the drain plug goes,cost pence...

Where did you get the plastic screw thing to go into the float chamber ?

Trouble is it takes YONKS to set them up that way You have to take them apart to adjust them, then check again & if still out - off with the bowls again

Yep, I know that, but I want to do a quick check that they are all the same level,and what level the fuel is at.
I`m trying to work out why my engine will only idle ok with the air screws set at 1/2 turn out. All the settings are correct, points gap, timing, tappets, cam timing etc.
I`m thinking the fuel levels might be low so I just want to do a quick check.

Compo go the plastic adapter that screws into the bowl drain from a local aquatics,its just a plastic straight through connector for aquarium air tubing,agree with Mark that its a bit of a pain ot set up,but i usually set them on the bench,using a couple of old head rubbers screwed to a piece of ply,i level them in the vice with a spirit level,only way of actually seeing the fuel level is correct in the bowls....i tie wrap the clear tubing from the adapter to the side of the carb bowl..its also a quick way to check em on the bike...

At first I thought you had managed to find the correct screw-in adaptor`s to fit the tubes to but now see this isn`t the case. So I will get the connectors that you suggest and give it a go. Thanks for the info.
