ignore the wires from the left hand switch. the blue wire which comes from the main wiring harness plugs in to the blue wire ( male bullet ) from the r/h switch

the blue wire on the harness is the positive feed for the headlight

you said your l/h switch has two blue wires one with a twin female connector + the other has a single male bullet is this correct? as it should have a black wire with a twin female connector

Sorry z

L/H has a single blue with bullet and a single black with bullet which I'm guessing goes to the horn. I have plugged the blue cable from the main loom into the blue from the switch.

The right hand has a single blue with a bullet and a blue with a twin female bullet. Nothing plugged into them at the mo!

the after market switches are designed to fit the z1/a/b & the z900 a4 but the way the power from the fuse is distributed differently. so if you have a z1/a/b the r/h switch is used for power distribution & if its a z900a4 the left hand switch is used . so depending on which model you have you will have wires which do nothing

Hi Z
I guess I'm done, thanks for your help.if anyone has a picture of the brake failure unit fixed under the coil I would appreciate it. Want to get it right!
Also one of the wires has come out of the plug. How do you get the brass bit out to reconnect. It looks simple enough.

the switch has a L shaped bracket & is fitted on the left hand rear nut of the left hand coil between the nut & the frame. the barb on the bracket faces the rear. the brass electrical connector has a small barb you have to press this down to release the connector

this is what the barb looks like

z that's great and yes that is the switch and i have the bracket which is flat l shaped.
the question is exact location.
no the connection is a 4 way connector block with female pins which one of the cables has come out. I cant get the pin out to clamp the cable back in.

this picture shows the left hand coil. the outage switch is fitted on the coil mounting closest to the cable tie in this picture. remove the coil & fit the outage switch complete with its bracket between the coil mounting screw & the frame then put the nut on the other side of the frame mounting for the coil. fit the L shaped bracket to the switch exactly as it is in the picture bellow with the wiring pointing towards the carbs
