Hi Custard Cream,
Meth Chloride is the main chemical in paint stripper so you can buy a good quality paint stripper, heat the carbs in an oven and paint plenty on, leave for an hour and repaet the process a few time and uncle bobby is uncle bobby. This does a fairly good job.
A chemical supplier should have the raw product and my suggestion is to do a Google search and you should be able to locate a supplier.
Vapour blasting is not new and depending on the abrasive used gives good results, but it is still blasting and a blasting media is still used. I prefer a chemical solution for carb and associated bodies, but hey! whatever suits the owner is best. Try and locate the raw product as it is a nice chemical to have in your restoration kit. You can also buy carb cleaner by the litre and soaking carbs for a few days and then using a high pressure air source will clear most galleries. Then revert to the tip cleaners used to clean Oxy nozzles for tough crud. These are the Ducks nuts for clearing galleries
Cheers
