Mikuni 33mm Flatslides (like RS type) Setup

#1 PostAuthor: Pigford » Thu Oct 11, 2007 6:45 pm

Gonna use me 33mm carbs on me new RedZed. Apparently they're off a tuned GPZ11
I've put in new 130 mains and discovered the pilots are 32.5. This seems rather large to me :!: I'd of thought nearer 22.5 would be better :?:
I did run up me CSR with these carbs with the 32.5 pilots and she was spitting & farting at low rev's but ran half reasonable over 3000 rpm. :lar
Anyone running a fairly standard Z1000, with a 4:1 pipe & K&N's with similar carbs, if so whats the jetting situation. :fou
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I doubt you'll get them to run properly especially midrange they are too big for a std 1000 motor

What if I put some "Go Faster Stripes" on the tank :??

I agree with Rich sorry. I tried all sorts with a set of 33mm on my Harris. gave up and fitted some 29mm ran fine.

:lar :sta :fou :kod :bli :grr :?

OK, but why can I run my Z1000A2 with RS36's, when its only +65cc and gas flowed. These are smaller carbs :?:

Not that I won't bow to your experience (both of you) BUT.... surely

Put them on and try it. 125 mains should be a good starting point. I expect WOT acceleration will be great but when you are in midrange and shutting off it will be a pain in the arse (technical term that!).
You really need to be at 1100cc+ for 33s which is why 29s usually command a better price than 33s

you need 17.5 pilot jets and between 120 to 130 mains and they ran very well on my standard z1000j .

A2s and below have as std smaller inlet tracts and valves than Js and above (unless you've had them gas flowed). Stick them on and try them if you do get them running right let me know what you've put in them.
