z1000j/gpz11 swingarm measurements
I've got a dresda swingarm knocking about I was told is for a z1000j/gpz1100 (presumably b1/2). At the wheel spindle end it measures 227/228mm wide. Could anyone help with swingarm width where the wheel goes on their j or gpz models please? I have a ltd which is a good 5mm wider. I am looking to put a 17" or 18" wheel in anyway at some point to get rid of the 16". I would need the complete set up (wheel, disc, carrier, caliper, etc) but want to establish what I can fit first. Thanks.
235mm between the inner surfaces of the very back end of the forks with the adjusters and all the guff removed.
Its a J1 as you know but will be the same for 1100R, gpz 1100b1/2 and probably 1000R as well.
Took mine out yesterday.
Taffus may have a spare gpz 1100 B back wheel spare.
I did have one recently but gave it to garyd.
Cant see any reason why yours would not go with a little encouragement!!

Thanks Al. I will check again, the adjusters on the Dresda are internal so perhaps that's why it's slightly narrower as it does away with the standard adjusters. Overall length is the same, as is the width of pivot (235mm) and axle diameter (16mm). I will try and get the ltd wheel in as it's off at the moment with a new tyre fitted.
Bingo! Got the arm on, wheel in, bit awkward but it fits. However, chain is slack with adjusters on the limit, any reason for this when the arms are the same length? I took sprocket cover off to check and the chain is on. Weird. Did a few more bits and added a load more jobs to the list.
Rear pads were nearly down to the metal, took exhaust off to do the swingarm and there were no exhaust gaskets (might explain the noisy tickover), and there's a ripple of paint on the tank which suggests a pinhole. Bugger.

Just found something similar. I was given a dodgy swingarm by a club member and thinking it was the same as my damaged J one i set about modifying it.
Then discovered that the position of the slots in the arm are further back than on the J one!
Chain now too short.

All set up with shocks mounted and wheel in. It needs a chain anyway but will have to work out how many links instead of buying a specific one for the bike. I will take a side-on shot and compare it with a 'before' one, see if I can work it out. Strange, only difference in measurements was the width near the front of the arm which is 150mm, not 138mm like the standard one.
