I am in the process of restoring a GPZ1100A1. The bike is now back together and running but I can't for the life of me figure out which way operates the choke as it appears to make no difference. Should the choke lever be level when running and up to start the bike?
its a fast idle not a choke. all the lever does is open the the throttle slightly. the engine temperature sensor + air temperature sensor control the amount of fuel it needs at all temperatures including cold starting. lever should be in up position for it to start from cold although i never used to use the fast idle as it was much easier to warm it up with the throttle until it would tick over on its own

Same goes for my Z1300 injection

My first fuel injection resto - and possibly my last at this rate. Done many a carb resto but fuel injection is another ball game altogether. Pipes everywhere and very little info available on the GPZ. For the first time, I wish I had taken phots of where things went as it would have been soooooo much easier. However, got her all back together and running but I just can't seem to be able to synchro the throttle boddies.
Can you just confirm that the fast idle lever should therefore be horizontal for normal running and up to start (if needed).
Cheers guys

What was the outcome ? DFi or carbs ???

DFI. Outcome - Throttle Bodies 3 and 4 balance nicely but 1 and 2 balance but then go out of balance when revved so I can't look to equal out each side using the centre adjustment. It would appear that I have a sticking No2 throttle body and despite several attempts to free it up, I reckon a replacement set is now required. Bit of a pain really but everything else is now spot on with the bike and at least I know it runs with no nasty engine noises (apart from the miss balance that is).
