Could you get a bracket fabricated to come off footrest mounts or top shock mount?

I don't think the exhaust is going that high. And the foot rest option may be too far from the silencer.

To be honest, I'm a little down about the quality of the frame and swingarm work. I just didn't use any quality guys in a rush to get started.

The frame guys have cut too muc stuff off, didn;t extend the shoick mounts through laziness and now the chain is too close for comfort to the shock springs. The welds are less than tidy.

The welds on the swingarm are not hideous. They were supposed to detach the arems at the pivot, shorten the length to match the original Z swinger then properly machine a radius for a tight weld back on. Looking at it now just makes my blood boil.

I have another frame and 2 swingarms which I'm very tempted to start again on. I know I'll just never be happy withe the quality of work.

The seat is made for that frame so that would also be a write-off.

My options are get this frame exhaust mount sorted and have a bike ready to go in a matter of weeks.

Or sell the frame, seat and swinger and start again.

I feel less of a rush now as I have this to pootle around on in the meantime:

Found a place that does black chrome plating suitable for exhausts! Quoted £100 for a 4-into-1. Its a true chrome plating, not a nickel plate.

http://www.merridalepolishingandplating ... nickel.htm

I may have the exhaust here for the weekend so hopefully I can do a test fit, have a bracket made locally and then send i for plating.

Then its to Debbens for carb fitting and fettling.

The ned is nigh - in a good way,

Exhaust arrived a yesterday and I was straight on the test fit.

Dave @ ExhaustCraft built this without the bike and despite my faffing around with silencer positioning etc he did a great job and it actually fits pretty good - its only held on with zip ties at the mo as the collars are drilled for 6mm studs and I have 8mm fitted but I'll figure that out.

Thoughts on fit?

Only issue is that to black chrome / paint it I need to remove the spring tabs as otherwise I can't slide the collars off to get the pipes done. You don't need the springs apparently but I quite like the look so not sure what to do there.

And in Black.

Worth going Black? Its been the vision all along but its looks okay in raw brushed steel too. Less pretty but looks tougher maybe.

End in sight!

I think black as well as "black chrome" will look stunning and go with the style of the bike.

I love both versions

Why not run it for a while in RAW - then if you wanna change get it done black
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Was thinking the same thing.

A few questions:

1) If I run it without the baffle - like literally with that massive pipe straight open, will it be impossibly loud? And affect power?

2) Does the fit look correct?

Without baffles way to load and no resistance so will be difficult to set up.

Being honest on the exhaust I think it should tuck in and up more looks a low and out from the bike.

Totally agree. I think it will need to be cut and re-welded to be tighter and shorter. Plus it has no silencer bracket as the I mentioned the exhuast hanger was cut off by the frame finishers!

Firstly will need to bolt it up properly to see how it sits exactly.

Think I'll stay stainless for now and live with it on the mean streets of West London. Can always plate it later.

Here's 1 more better mock-up.

Regarding running springs at the collector - yay or nay?
