Leak Down Test
OK, Been purchasing and I have bought (a few months ago) a leak down tester!
Set the GPz up today to check the offending cylinder but sodding fittings don't match my compressor!
Anyone got any good advice on using one of these instruments?

Taffus, I would be interested to know what a Leak-down tester would include.
I would expect a screw adaptor for the spark-plug hole connection.
A pressure gauge.
Your own compressor (up to 130PSI... guessing!)
A control valve.
As I understand, you can spot defects such as worn rings/bore, faulty inlet and exhaust valves by the rate of escaping air from the combustion chambers.
I would think the main part would be listening for a "hiss" from valve at the inlet or exhaust port, the cam-cover or the sump. Still I think a fair bit of experience would be needed to diagnose the rate of pressure drop and where the air escaping from.
Would appreciate your comments.

Comleted the leakdown test. Very interesting
Cylinder 1 leaks from inlet and exhaust valve
Cylinder 2 no leaks from inlet and leaks exhaust valve
Cylinder 3 no leaks from inlet and leaks exhaust valve
Cylinder 4 no leaks from inlet and leaks exhaust valve
No sound of air in the crankcase. I am guessing that the cam timing is incorrect for the exhaust (I have slotted cam wheels)
Just got to strip the head off and fit the 1170 barrels and J head now and shim up and put fixed cam timing in

Leak down testing
Would anyone like to give a summary of how to perform a leak-down test?
What is the kit that Taffus purchased?
