72/73 Z1 wanted

#1 PostAuthor: Vince2 » Tue Oct 08, 2013 10:25 am

Anyone out there with a 72/73 Z1 that they want to turn into cash, then please pm me. I've just joined the Z1OC and I'm on the lookout for one.
Maybe one of you out there with multiple Z's in their garages that is prepared to let one go? Preferrably complete, matching numbers and no major issues.
I promise it will find a pampered home next to my low mileage H2C

Would £8,000 buy your h2? Whatever you value your h2c at, you should expect to pay a
similar price for a really nice z1.

I guess you're right, BUT, I sold an H2c last year that was 'really nice' for £8k on eBay. The one I have is in another league with only 3,800 genuine miles. I don't think there are too many z1's with a genuine 3,800 miles. If there is one, I would definitely go the extra mile to try to own it.

True. Perhaps I'm being a little ambitious for a 72  there is obviously some room for 'negotiation

Room?!.....

Other than the few pre-production mules a '72' is pretty much the holy grail of Zed ownership, I'd expect to pay upwards of £14K for a nice resto, and for the kind of original low miler you're talking about then WELL north of £16K.

Even a nice '73' is going to be £12K as a minimum, and even that will doubtless be a bitsa of some degree requiring work.

£8-£10K is Really Nice A4 money...

Then again, it's all down to how you define "Really Nice"?.

I think that You just need to have patience.

There are still nice bikes out there that will go for reasonable money.

Its just a case of right place right time, with the cash available.

advertising locally , telling all the local bikers you meet that you are looking for a particular model can still uncover gems.

Oldzed I agree with what you say but no one is going to let any of those gems go on the cheap.72/73 Z1s hold their money with donor bikes for resto going for £5K+

I bought my 72 Z1 just over a year ago for 10K.
Dave Orritt who won "Best in show" at Stafford last October gave it 9.5 out of 10 when he came around so they are out there.
You just have to find them.

im just about to put a H2B on the triples forum.
Genuine 4k mile bike.
who ever found it in the USA nicked the original paint, seat and rear brake pedal and put a shitty set/part on it!!
Apart from the grab rail missing the bike is 100% standard.
Kicks over and the chokes and carb slides work perfect.
Its an easy resto and at £4250 its a VERY cheap H2.
The bargains are still out there!
