Fuel Cap
Can someone please show me a picture of a Z1 fuel filler cap open, so I can see the spring position. Amazing how you can just about rebuild a complete bike and get stumped on this! Any tips on installation would be great too please.
it is quite a fiddly job you need to place the spring in the centre of the tank cap mounting bracket with the open ends of the spring facing the opening of the tank. one end of the spring should lie flat on the tank the other end will be sticking up vertically. now the tricky part. push the latch against the vertical part of the spring downwards + locate the spring between the latch with the roll pin to secure it . the spring will try to move out of position when you compress it so you may need someone to hold it in position while you are pushing down on the latch
