Got a bit of time off for good behaviour yesterday so managed to get to the garage at last, now the new ebay Z is back on ebay it is waiting in a mates garage so giving me a bit more room to manoeuvre .
Griffs powder coated frame on ST No.1 wrapped up and ready for lowering onto ..
Roysten at REPS rebuilt engine [he wafted a rattle can over it as after the rebuild costs I could not afford anything more]
All the engine mounting bolts came back from Mikey nice and shiny [thanks Mikey!, great work], so off we go, will take more pix in a minute once operation is completed, progress at last!

Thanks Paul, I am plumping for Geoffs crash bars as they are exactly what I am after, thanks for the pix of the shocks, they look different from my Stradas but in better nick, let me have a look at the specs and see if i can swap the bits around I need.
In the meantime, after a bereavement in the family that has put us all out of action for sometime, I got up early this morning and back into the garage for 1st time in ages, here is ST. No1. as of 10am
Got the swing arm, drive shaft and rear wheel on along with some shiny bits form Mikey [cheers Mikey, its great to have you just down the road and doing such fab work, I can see me drip feeding bits over the next few builds /paycheques].
I got some NJB shocks bolted on whilst the Marzocchi rebuild stories unfolds, they can go onto ST.No.2 when the time comes but the wheels are looking a bit tired, I have put up a post but anyone recommend a wheel restorer or should I see if Mikey can polish these fellas and find a local paintshop, Ralph gave me a contact for paint but he wanted £350+ which is way past my budget at the moment.
After having the engine rebuilt, frame etc powder coated, new fixings, forks, re chromed and painted, new wiring etc I dont really want to let the finish down on the wheels but I have run out of cash for the moment for anything of that order.
Next up will be wiring, batt box and exhaust, I think the old black chrome Harris rather than the stainless as I thought this would go best on ST No.2, I will try them both out and see which looks best.
Olive meanwhile is getting dis assembled to help both builds so soon the frame will be ready for Redbeard to pick up, [ 'nother couple of weeks now me thinks] but all being well I hope to get this St No.1 up and running for a road test to the Stafford show!

Right, started swapping over the wiring and the loom, forgot to mention I had relocated the ignition to to theft attempts, its now under the seat behind the carbs on the left.
Bit blurry sorry,
This frees up the headstock so I have put on different handlebar clamps, though i forgot to give them to Griffs for powder coating, they will go shortly along with the headlight shell but at least you can see the shiny shiny headstock bolt and cap care of Mikey [thanks again!]
Bleeding brake, no, i meant f**king but there we go, bled everything with new Mityvac from Bikerstoolbox [ace bit of kit] and then recharged system, left over night and stone me !
bleeding leaking from the view glass, damn bugger and blast. Going to swap this for a remote reservoir one form a ZX10 or a Triumph for the moment but do not know where to send it for repair as although I can find a jewellers watch glass to fit I suspect it is the rubber that is at fault and they don't seem to exist in this dimension....

Been working hard to afford to go to Stafford both time and money wise so not too much progress:
Thats her all wired up, brakes on, rear mudguard on and trimmed to fit, just got to spray the rear tail piece and then put on the seat and side panels, carbs [ kindly stripped and cleaned by Ralph] and exhaust.Have swapped the Dyna coils from Olive just to get here running but hope to get new ones form Ralph's spare stock or otherwise the ever helpful Z1enterprizes.
got to respray the clock covers as well, Nick at Griffs says he can do them and the headlight shell , I will have to save up for the wheels.
as you can see the front brake master is a Triumph one from Ralph as I broke my leaky window trying to get it out and I have carved the rear mudguard to fit the new styled tail piece, not to everyones taste I am sure but its my bike and its a symbol of my individuality and my belief in personal freedom.
Going to Stafford only for the day tomorrow but hope to come away with exhaust from Chris if the price is right and crash bars from Geoff.
Also looking for new front caliper bolts as mine are shot and the replacements I got at Kempton Park may have been metric fine but do not seem to be 1.25 pitch and wont run in !
If I can get them and the exhaust its saving for a motobatt from Busters ? and then a run up to Ralph's to see if he can fit his Dyna S he has spare [if he still has it?]
