ELR head

#1 PostAuthor: weaver » Thu Aug 08, 2013 9:27 am

I have refitted the head to my elr, there is a visible gap at the front and rear of the cam chain tunnel where the head gaskets do not cover,is this correct?
The liners have been replaced and the top of the block skimmed,I did not notice this gap before stripping..

It may sound obviuous but what gasket have you got in and is it all "torqued" down?

The barrels I obtained to swap over because the originals had a lot of fin damage were gpz1100 b1,these use rubber o rings on the outer studs so b1 head gaskets had to be used, the head is all torqued down.
I would think this gap has to be there as the gaskets do not cover the whole of the head/block faces
