hope someone can help!,
i have a z1000 1977 with charging problems, i have replaced the alternator windings but the result is the same, no charge going to the battery and reduced ampage as well, friends of mind seem to think its either the rectifier or regulator(they previously owned a z650 with the same problem and cured it with H**** cb250/400n regulator/rectifier)
i wonder if anyone has any suggestions before i try to wire in a reg/rec from a superdream, like the best way to do this as im competant'ish at electrics
the 3 alternator wires (yellow) got that, but the other 3 wires- black,green,red
as i understand it
green-to ground
black-connect to any wire which is live when the engine is running
red- connect to the cable going directly to the battery,before or after the fuse box?
the connectors on my zed are completely different and i am worried i might screw things up.
hope some one can help, i have a rally to go to this coming weekend and would like to get there without worrying about electrical problems
thx in advance

Probably the rectifier, check the earths as well but put a superdream one in they are a lot better. SH232 if you go autojumbling.
4 different colour wire RR
H**** wiring:
black = voltage sensing = Kawasaki brown
red = v out = kawasaki white/red
green = earth = kawasaki black (black/yellow for main loom)
yellow (three of them) = ac input from stator
