front caliper Z900 A4

#1 PostAuthor: dhodgetts » Tue Jul 02, 2013 5:51 pm

I have been off the Z1 scene for a good ten years so don"t know whats happening in the spares area ,I have a Z900 A4 1976 ,just re-joined club and could do with some advice as I want to get bike back on the road . One front calliper has broken below bleed nipple ,could repair £50 but is it possible to buy new one .What is the best place to get seal kits, calliper pistons etc. I also noticed on internet US complete new callipers for sale $175 but it states up to 1975 ,does it fit the A4 .Any ideas would be appreciated !

Z1, Z1A, Z1B do not fit the A4.

Seal kits etc from Z Power or z1enterprises.com - I think even wemoto.com do them.

I'd get the one you've got fixed if its only the bleed nipple thats faulty.

Post some pictures of your bike .......... :)

Thanks .. . . A piece of the cast has broken off below bleed nipple assembly with nipple attached ,engineering firm says it can be repaired but with new piston, seals etc plus new piston and seals on the other calliper .I guess there"s no other option .I"ll try those contacts as for pics the bikes a bit sad at the moment not started since 2004 ,tank off ,carbs off ,repairs to wiring loom ,but I do have old photo"s I could scan, when I used to ride it in the 1990"s ,yes I'm no spring chicken like the bike. ps I have been riding other bikes so I still know what to do ! regards

Hi welcome: I had the same problem searching for replacement A4 calipers; you can fit the Z1000 A1 calipers, but they are equally as hard to come by. They do come up on evilBay , but I refurbed a set with a repair kit & pistons from Z Power. Bit of as bugger really, as you can get complete new pattern calipers for the Z1, A & B for £80 each.

Might be worth checking with Z Power, as when I spoke to Dave Marsden many months ago, he said he was looking at getting some pattern units made for the A4. Not sure if he ever did though ?
