Had a great 60 mile run down the west coast and back in the blazing sun today. Having not had the bike on the road for over two years now I forgot how torquey it is and how well it pulls!!!
So anyway, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who supplied me with parts for my refurb and to those folk who answered all my dim witted questions

Without you all the bike would still be sitting under a cover in the garage as a nice home to all the spiders.
Thanks to Big Fluff for the JMC decals.
Thanks to compo z1r for the rear caliper (in excellent condition and a complete bargain compared to what they go for on ebay. The back brake has never worked so well!!!)
Thanks to Hobbo for the shims, steering damper and bracket.
Thanks to Pigford for the fuel tap.
Thanks to kwakmac for the forks.
Thanks to Garry.L for the cracking front original mudguard and headlight ears, another great help compared to the massive price the rivvet counters buy these for on ebay.
And thanks again to Simon (Flying Tiger) for his amazing restoration of my tank and panels.
And a great thanks to Gary (oldzed) for helping me diagnose my many bike woes, cheers m8 ;)
And thanks to anyone I've missed

I've posted some before and after photos below. Some are hideous examples of how I ran the Z, so be gentle. Tool roll, custom bits etc, lol what was I thinking of? Too many drugs me thinks

Spec: bought in 1992 as an American import from New York (a 1977 model year). Standard apart from a ratty V&H which I replaced with a new one pretty soon after buying it.
Now:
Debben rebuilt crank, welded, new rods and main bearings etc.
Mucho Debben head work.
1075, Wiseco , 10.25.1
APE HD valve springs, APE titanium valve spring retainers etc
APE HD crank case / cylinder studs, main bearing studs etc
Roller clutch push rod conversion
HD clutch basket (I think?) and springs
VM 29mm Smoothbores with K&N's
Dyna Ignition, coils and HT leads
Giuliari seat
Billet manual cam chain tensioner
HD Tsubaki cam chain
Billet cam end plugs
Billet selector fork shaft (I think?)
KONI dial-a-wobble rear shocks

Stainless one off exhaust (by the same guy that used to make Jim Moodies echausts - SWONA) and a new shorty 'Fuel' end can with race baffles
Progressive front fork springs
Arkront rims
JMC swinging arm
Debben 530 chain conversion kit
Hel brake lines, Spondon discs and Nissin 4 pots
When I first got the bike, used it for doing all the main bike do's for many a year. Stupidly I sold off all the OEM bits I've since needed to scour ebay etc for

My better half back in the day (Bulldog Bash I think)

Made a few mods, best of which was getting rid of the standard front brake!! Fitted Dyna stuff, JMC and another pipe etc.

Taken today

As ever, still a work in progress and lots of stuff I'm looking at tweaking but I'm happy for the now.
Cheers folks
